It is with great sadness that I must report to you that Jim Dunlop Sr., founder of the iconic Dunlop Manufacturing company has passed away. Dunlop Manufacturing has been a staple in the guitar pick and accessories industry since it was founded in 1965. Alice In Chains, Dave Mathews, Zakk Wylde and John Petrucci are just a few of the artists who have and still do rely on the quality that Dunlop and his company have strived to provide guitarists for so long.

While the cause of death is still unclear, I will be sure to update you as I learn more.

This story was originally reported by Loudwire. You can read the Loudwire article here.

This post will also be expanded upon over the next several days to include more information on Jim Dunlop Sr.’s legacy, the impact he has had on the music industry and more.

Rest In Peace, Jim Dunlop Sr. You will be deeply missed.
